Paleo-MARSPEC is the MARSPEC equivalent for mid-Holocene (MH) and Last Glacial Maximum (LGM) ocean climates. Climatic data layers are derived from general circulation models of the MH and LGM developed for the second phase of the Paleoclimate Modeling Intercomparison Project. The data are calibrated with modern conditions from the monthly MARSPEC climate layers and statistically downscaled to 5 arc-minute (~10km) spatial resolution (details in Sbrocco 2014). Geophysical data layers are derived from modern bathymetry assuming a 120 meter drop in sea level for the LGM or modern conditions for the MH.

Note - Bathymetry and geophysical data layers were not published with the Mid-Holocene MARSPEC dataset because they are identical to modern conditions. Users are instructed to download the 5 arc-minute data layers for bathymetry and biogeo01-07 from the modern MARSPEC database (Sbrocco and Barber 2013 - please cite). The entirety of the 5 arc-minute resolution modern MARSPEC dataset can be downloaded here. Bathymetry and biogeo01-07 are located in the 'core variables' folder.
